Why “Working Under Pressure” Might Be Your Biggest Saboteur
05.09.2025
Many of the people I work with feel overwhelemd – pulled in different directions by competing roles and expectations, and increasingly disconnected from themselves.
Although their days are full, they’re often unclear about what truly matters or what the next right step is. Often they can’t really explain what is wrong – they just feel that something is off. They are busy all day, but it feels energy draining, and there is a growing gap between constant activity and a life that feels meaningful and aligned.
Below I’ve collected answers to some of the most common questions I hear.
Why do I feel overwhelmed even when I am doing my best?
Feeling overwhelmed often doesn’t mean you’re doing too little.
Very often, it is a result of doing too much without enough pauses, clear focus or checking in with yourself.
People move from one task to the next, responding to what needs to be done, and stay busy all day.
But in the evening, they still feel they didn’t do what was actually most important to them.
Over time, this constant doing without reflection can lead to stress, restlessness, and a growing feeling of being disconnected from yourself.
Coaching can help you slow down, reconnect with your inner signals, and find clarity step by step.
What does it mean to feel disconnected from myself?
Feeling disconnected from yourself often means that you are no longer in close contact with your own needs, values, or inner signals.
Many people are very good at functioning, adapting, and meeting expectations. At the same time, they slowly stop listening to what feels right for them.
Over time, this can show up as numbness, restlessness, or an inner distance from yourself.
Reconnecting usually starts by slowing down and creating a space to listen again.
How do I find clarity when I have too many responsibilities and no time?
When everything feels important and time is limited, clarity rarely comes from doing more.
It often starts by slowing down – even in very small moments – and creating a bit of distance from daily tasks.
Clarity also grows when you reconnect with your own values and priorities, instead of only reacting to what others expect from you.
Over time, this helps you make calmer decisions, focus your energy more intentionally, and feel more connected with yourself again.
Why do I struggle with self-doubt or imposter syndrome even when I’m capable?
For many capable and responsible people, self-doubt or imposter syndrome shows up when there is constant comparison or pressure to meet high expectations – your own or from those around you.
Instead of trusting your inner sense of what is enough, you keep questioning yourself.
Coaching can help you recognize these patterns, strengthen self-trust, and relate to your abilities in a calmer and more realistic way.
Why do I feel constant pressure to do things right and still never feel done?
This often comes from a strong inner pressure to do things well and avoid mistakes.
That pressure can lead to overthinking, double-checking, and difficulty finishing tasks.
Even when a lot is done, it rarely feels enough or truly satisfying.
Learning to notice this pattern – and gently soften it – can create more ease, clearer priorities, and a more supportive relationship with yourself.
If you recognize yourself in these questions, you’re not alone.
